THE NEED In every surgical procedure, there is a need to close the incision. Current methods—stitching, gluing, and stapling— are time consuming, have large potential for infections, and leave a significant scar. Surgical procedures are becoming increasingly sophisticated and minimally invasive. The market is moving from general purpose sutures to dedicated devices and techniques targeted to the needs of the specific procedure.
THE PRODUCT IonMed has developed a novel device that welds incisions using cold plasma and incorporates the use of a special albumin (protein). The procedure takes a few seconds, seals the area completely, leaves minimal scarring, and can be done without special training.
VALUE PROPOSITION • Fast and easy to perform incision welding procedure • Watertight sealing of the Incision, with less risk of infection • Reduces healing time by improving the congealment • Reduces tissue scaring
